They say the problem with child prodigies is that they’re not children forever.
No one understands that better than new St. Louis goaltender Tom Barrasso. In the NHL as a teen, he’s now just a 37-year-old man looking for a place to punch his time card.
He’s a goalie without a team — sort of a gun-for-hire in the NHL.
The Post-Dispatch has a nice piece on the goalie who jumped from high school to the NHL.
St. Louis went from having no goaltenders to having a plethora. Goalie Fred Brathwaite stopped 19 shots to shut out the misnamed Predators 7-0. Brathwaite also had the quote of the game: “No problems with the groin.”
Keep us posted, Fred!
