Wild and Crazy Knees
Brian Murphy says the Wild are the sleeper hit of the NHL.
My Webster’s says a sleeper is something that achieves unexpected success. But it also says a sleeper is one that sleeps. The Wild don’t sleep (well they sleep, but not excessively), but they sure are sleep-inducing. The Wild and their trapping ways are heading for the playoffs. Their big weakness? A lack of depth that makes them susceptible to injuries. Speaking of which, Wild goalie Manny Fernandez is going to be out a month with a sprained knee. That puts co-goalie Dwayne Roloson in the horrible spot of having to work twice as much as he’s used to.
So maybe the playoffs aren’t a given for the Boring Wild.
