OK. Maybe Detroit isn’t the only Hockey Town in the States. Maybe we need to add Portland, Oregon to that list. How come? Because the Senators are the latest NHL team rumored to be heading there if/when their franchise goes under. It seems that Buffalo and Pittsburgh now have some competiton in trying to move failing franchises west.
I think the NHL should let all three teams go to Portland. I’d be curious to see how long three NHL teams could last in the same area (although the New York/New Jersey area supports three teams). It could be an interesting experiment. And all three teams really couldn’t be more poorly run. So there’s not a lot of financial risk in moving all three teams to the same city.
Just something to consider.
Oh. And the Senators might file for bankruptcy protection as early as today.
