The Great (Cash) Wiped Buffalo

Speaking of broke teams, the Sabres owe players money. Buffalo is expected to pay the players if for no other reason then it would be hard to sign new players if the old ones weren’t being paid. It’s pretty messed up, though.
Like Ottawa (see above), the Sabres seem to be bankruptcy-powered. They’ve won five of their last six (including a 1-0 win over the red-hot Wild last night) and three in a row.
Actually I don’t think bankruptcy is the only motivation. I think rookie goalie Ryan Miller (who just notched his first NHL shut-out) has a lot to do with it, too. Miller is keeping Buffalo in games — something usual goalie Martin Biron has struggled with for most of the season.
Now maybe a lot of coaches will turn to bankruptcy for their strategies.
