Before Ottawa got through with them, Buffalo had quite a little shut-out streak going.
What makes a goalie like Martin Biron go as hot as he did over the 221 minutes, 58 seconds he kept pucks out of Sabre net?
Magic gloves.
Biron saw some gloves that rookie goalie sensation Ryan Miller was sending back to the manufacturer. He thought they looked nice, so he decided to take them instead.
And then he played almost 222 minutes of shut-out hockey, a Buffalo record.
Speaking of Miller, who will probably replace Biron within a season or so, Miller is scared to go to the YoungStars game. Who can blame him? It’s like goalie-hunting out there. Last year’s score was 13-7. And they only played for 36 minutes.
But confidence is over-rated, right?
