Angry and Rich
I’ve been missing a lot of good stories lately. Although to be honest, I don’t think this one was covered much here in New York. Apparently an Islander fan was so upset with the way the Isles were beaten by their lowly, local rivals, the Rangers, he took out an ad in Newsday, the Islanders’ local paper, to complain about their play.
The full-page ad cost $28,000.
What did superfan Larry Weinberger tell the orange-and-blue of Long Island?
- We, your loyal fans, showed up! We braved freezing weather and came out looking for a great game. We came out to support you. Where was the energy, the excitement, the electricity, the intensity? Come on now…We deserve a better effort.
For the record, I would have told the Islanders that same thing for only $27,000. In fact, I’ll yell at any team for $27,000.
