Pimpin’ Pittsburgh

I can’t help it. I love smart business deals. Take Pittsburgh. They have no money. So what do they do? They’re going to sell Alexei Kovalev for $4 million plus young talent. According to the New York Post, the Penguins have permission to accept up to $4 million in cash for Kovalev. The previous record was the $3.9 million the Penguins got for Jaromir Jagr. So Pittsburgh is getting money and talent. What more could they want? If they keep developing players like Kovalev, they won’t even have to play hockey to make money.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review insists that the Penguins are more than owner/superstar Mario Lemieux. Even if they aren’t more than Lemieux, at least they’re getting cold, hard cash for Kovalev.
