What Wood Al Use?
The Free Press says wooden sticks are out. Now all the kids love graphite. It turns just about everyone into a superstar. But not everyone loves composite sticks. Al MacInnis won the All-Star Game’s hardest shot competition with a wooden stick. At age 39. Wood and age that’s a double handicap.
MacInnis switched to a composite sticks last year, but switched back to wood this year. The Blues probably appreciate that. Wooden sticks are a lot cheaper. And MacInnis isn’t alone in his love of wood. Besides beavers and termites, who also enjoy wood, about 15% of the NHL still uses wooden sticks. The most common reason for using wood? “It gets me stoked, man!”
