Trade Deadline Madness
Too. Much. Trade. Stuff. Don’t. Know. Where. To. Look.
- * Carolina’s Glen Wesley moves over to Toronto. And it scares the crap out of me that Toronto is going grittier. Wesley is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
* San Jose unloads yet another player. Bryan Marchment is traded to Denver, who love both tough-as-nails defensemen and last-minute deals. Colorado gave up draft picks. Because they really only deal with veteran players. (Also, the Devils are said to be trying to pick up San Jose’s Teemu Selanne [they also wanted Marchment]. Pretty soon the San Jose mascot will be on the first line.)
* The Islanders pick up Randy Robitaille from Pittsburgh. Who’s left playing in Pittsburgh anyway? Is there anyone left there? The Islanders also dealt center Claude Lapointe to the Flyers. Honestly? Robitaille and Lapointe are the same players. Gritty face-off men who work hard on the third or fourth line. I don’t really see a difference between them, though. Except for their names.
* Also, speaking of fire sales (SEE Pittsburgh and San Jose), Washington is dangling everybody, according to the New York Post. They’re looking to deal Jaromir Jagr, Peter Bondra, and Robert Lang. And that’s really all there is to Washington. I mean, I guess they could try and deal equipment, but there might be rules about that.
* Nashville gets a goalie. Good for them!
