Snapshot
The NHL as a microcosm, while I try to finish some schoolwork:
- * Dallas’ Marty Turco finishes the season with the lowest GAA of the modern era. Dallas also got to finish the season on top of the West. Look out Edmonton (against whom Dallas is 30-5-4 since leaving Minnesota).
In case you forgot, Turco was a backup goalie last season.
- * New York Ranger Eric Lindros knows he had a tough (bad) year and he doesn’t make any excuses for it: “I just never could find my touch. It drove me crazy during the year. I’ve said before a number of times that I just don’t know why I can’t put my finger on it. It’s funny, too, now that I think of it. Even last summer, when I was getting ready for the season, I wasn’t shooting the puck well then, either.” The fact that Lindros owns up to this makes me think he’ll be back to normal next season. It also makes me think that maybe he just shouldn’t play 80 games a season. Maybe it’s too much.
So there you have it. The best and the worst of the NHL. The yin and the yang.
I do more than talk puck here. I also like to teach.
