Over in Anaheim, the columnists find themselves needing to learn a new skill the art of talking hockey smack.
TJ Simers of the LA Times looks like he’s a quick learner. He’s telling the world to call Anaheim Hockeytown. It’s a very funny column on the hockey culture of California.
So yeah. Anaheim won again last night, this time 2-1. The Ducks are leading the Wings 3 games to none.
Do you know who I feel bad for? Curtis Joseph. I didn’t like him during the season, but he’s playing well. Detroit just isn’t doing anything in front of him. Sure Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere is hot as hell this series, but Detroit’s offense, with all their talent and experience should be able to solve him. Joseph hasn’t been super sharp, but he hasn’t been awful. It seems like Detroit is fixated on the goals Joseph should be stopping. It’s like they can’t understand that their current goalie isn’t as good as Dominik Hasek, their old goalie. Detroit needs to accept that they need more offense with Cujo in the net and then start generating that offense. Or else give backup goalie Manny Legace a start.
Or put Luc Robitaille in goal. He’s been playing his ass off, no doubt thinking about his awful, awful, horrible, regular season.
