Osgood Cures the Blues

Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s looking like the Islanders should have held on to goalie Chris Osgood. Even at the risk of losing him with nothing in return when he became a free agent next season.
While in the nets for St. Louis, Osgood has only allowed four goals in three games.
Islander goalie Garth Snow has been getting worse as the series with Ottawa moves forward. Smow gave up two goals on five shots within the first five minutes of the game as Ottawa beat the Islanders 3-1 to take a 3-1 series lead.
The Islanders aren’t a strong team. Lord knows they have no offense. They’re dead in the water without decent goaltending, which they’re finding out the hard way.
Meanwhile, Chris Osgood has two Stanley Cup rings. The book on him is always that he’s not good enough (I’m as guilty of this as anyone), and yet he always does a fine job wherever he plays. Osgood isn’t a great goalie, but he’s a top goalie. And St. Louis, a team that just isn’t as good on the ice as they look on paper, is very lucky to have him between the pipes.
The Blues beat Vancouver 4-1 yesterday. St. Louis needs to win just one more game to eliminate the suffocated Canucks. Seriously. It’s like the last 20 pages of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” Chief has the pillow over Vancouver’s collective face. We’re all just waiting for him to chuck the control panel through the window and run. To the next round.
