Weird column out of Philly arguing that the Flyers don’t have any superstars.
I guess that depends what your definition of superstar is. But a lot of small market teams would be pretty happy with players like Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte, John LeClair, and Donald Brashear. I think they’re all pretty well-known throughout the hockey world. Obviously none of them are a Wayne Gretzky or a Mario Lemeiux but I don’t think many teams have players like that. Not even the Pittsburgh Penguins if you think about it. Maybe the Flyers don’t have a lot of legends — but they sure have an awful lot of great players. I think they’ll get by with them.
And hey. They sure got by Ottawa with them. They beat the Senators 2-0.
Also, Eric Deshardins’ leg fracture has gotten worse. He’ll now be out four to six weeks. Obviously Philadelphia didn’t really need their best defenseman Sunday night, but I’m sure they’ll be missing him real soon.
