Someone has to explain Boston logic to me.
Owner Jeremy Jacobs says he likes the Devils because their payroll is similar to Boston’s.
That’s fine. That’s admirable.
But then, in almost the same breath, we hear the rumor that their number one goalie might be the very unproven Andrew Raycroft.
Sure, New Jersey has a low payroll. But they can get away with that because of strong goaltending.
Low payroll is good, but you have to be smart. You can’t just under-pay. You have to actually manage your resources.
