Roy’s Number To Be Retired

The Avs are going to retire Patrick Roy’s number 33.
I think they should have Roy hold his jersey in front of him like he used to do with pucks. Just freeze it in midair like he’s daring it to try and sneak over the goal line.
I’d really love to see that. I wonder how long he could hold it for before his arm would get tired. That might be a better thing to do after Roy passes. Is taxidermy legal on humans?
And I didn’t realize this, but the Avalanche already retired Ray Bourque’s 77 even though he was only in Colorado a little more than a season. That surprised me. He certainly brought the Cup to Colorado, but I don’t think most people think of him as an Avalanchian. He was really more of a hired gun.
But I guess it’s as good a way as any to piss off Bruins fans.
