Amonte Needs To Breathe

Pity Tony Amonte. He’s playing in a defensive system but expected to be a real offensive force. He was brought in to play with Jeremy Roenick, but so far they haven’t had the same spark they had in Chicago. This after a horrible post-season. And after a horrible year in Phoenix where he never lived up to expectations there.
Amonte is already talking about how this season will be better. But of course it won’t be until Amonte learns to relax. He couldn’t relax in Phoenix, and he was awful. He’s not relaxing in Philadelphia, and he’s rushing everything, playing like a desperate man.
Maybe coach Ken Hitchcock should figure out how to make Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center look more like Chicago’s United Center.
