To no one’s surprise, the Sabres finally came to terms with Miroslav Satan.
They gave him $10 million for two years.
Not too shabby considering he represents himself and was still in Slovakia last week.
But really. What choice did the Sabres have? Not sign their best player? $10 million is a lot, but it’s what he’s worth. And they can always trade him for a less expensive option, although that doesn’t seem to be current Sabre ownership’s M.O.
With Satan on his way back to the US, the good people of Slovakia now only have Marian Gaborik, on the run from the Minnesota Wild, to watch and admire.
Who knows if he’ll be back in the states this season?
