I hadn’t heard this, but according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post the hot NHL rumor is Dallas trying to deal Bill Guerin to Toronto. According to Brooks, the only thing stopping the deal is Guerin’s no-trade clause, which he doesn’t want to waive.
Also, Guerin is American. Playing in Toronto probably isn’t a dream or goal for him. Also, I’m guessing Guerin, sharp tack that he is, realizes that if he moves to the Leafs, he’ll be nothing but a patsy there, absorbing all the blame when he and his huge salary can’t drag the Leafs out of the first round of the playoffs. Assuming they’re able to make it in this year.
And after watching Atlanta climb back from being down 2-0 to the Leafs in the third, to beating them in OT, the playoffs seem like a bit of a stretch for Toronto.
