Anaheim Ready to Play?
Dare we ask?
Is Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere getting hot again?
Shockingly, Giguere only had two wins going into last night’s game against the Leafs (login:laexaminer;password:laexaminer).
What’s the problem in Anaheim?
It’s not entirely Giguere. The team’s not playing defense like last season.
The problem is getting new players caught up with Anaheim’s system. Plus, Anaheim is still feeling the loss of gritty forward Steve Thomas, who ended up in Detroit, where he finally played last night, scoring against the Stars (the Wings wound up winning 6-2).
But Anaheim is maybe starting to focus.
They beat Toronto 5-1. Sergei Fedorov had two goals and an assist. It’s got to be sweet for him since the Toronto Sun just wondered aloud if Fedorov was having trouble fitting in with Anaheim’s system.
As Coach Might Duck Mike Babcock might say, Fedorov is managing the puck nicely. Except on that assist, where he served as an assistant manager.
