Detroit Waives Goodbye to CuJo

Geez. How could the Wings put goal Curtis Joseph on waivers? Again.
They might not even be sending him down to the AHL again. It seems that the Wings really can’t unload Joseph. Even though they’re offering to pick up some of his contract.
It’s just so degrading and embarassing for everyone. Detroit looks inept and Joseph must feel about three inches tall.
Since Detroit is on the hook for his salary anyway, I don’t understand why they don’t just give him away to a weak Eastern conference team like Carolina. Just send him and $12 million toward his contract to the Hurricanes. They won’t meet Detroit in the playoffs — not for a few years anyway, and at least they’re saving themselves $4 million on Joseph’s contract, which is $4 million more than they’re saving now.
Seriously. Look around the East. None of the competing teams really need a goalie. Hell. Even Washington is set in goal and they’re horrible.
In fact, the team in the league most in desperate need of a goaltender is Chicago. But I doubt the Wings will do any favors for a fellow conference-mate.
Of course, if the Wings continue scoring seven goals a game, like they did over Anaheim last night, they might not even need number one goalie Dominik Hasek.
