Vile Isles

Just two seasons ago the Islanders looked a year away from a serious, serious run at the Stanley Cup.
Now the team is a mess.
The fans are blaming GM Mike Milbury. For once, they’re right.
You can trace the Islanders’ implosion to one Milbury move: the waiving of Jason Wiemer.
That one move saved the Islanders some money and took away any kind of team cohesion in one motion.
The team looked asleep against the Rangers last night. The Rangers won 4-2 without even really trying.
Milbury doesn’t seem long for his job:

At this point, the only thing left is for Milbury to walk the plank. It’s the only way players might start to feel comfortable again and it’s the only way the Islanders will have a chance to bring talent into the organization. What free agent would ever sign with the Islanders, knowing he could be traded, or worse, waived, at the drop of a hat? What draft pick would possibly be excited about coming up in an organization that cannibalizes its young and its old?
