Dupont: ‘Play Raycoft Until He Collapses’

Kevin Paul Dupont lobbies for rookieish goalie Andrew Raycroft to get more starts.
I’m not sure why. Number one goalie Felix Potvin is playing fine. Why put the kid under the pressure of carrying a team? Especially a pretty hot team like Boston?
Dupont’s thing is that until he has the weight of a season dumped on his shoulders, Raycroft is an unknown quantity. But let’s be realistic for a second. Say you dump the season on Raycroft and he implodes? Then what? Will Potvin somehow not be scarred by being dumped? Will Raycroft not be ruined by his destruction of a season?
The Bruins are being goalie smart. For once. Bring Raycroft up slowly. Let him evolve. Let him make mistakes that won’t cost the team their season.
