I love this headline: “Legal Experts: Bertuzzi Case Complex.”
In case you haven’t heard, the Canadian government is charging Canuck Todd Bertuzzi with assault in his on-ice attack of Steve Moore.
It’s a messy situation. The NHL has already suspended Bertuzzi. Now the government is getting involved. Does any government have the right to get involved in the outcome of sporting events? Sure Bertuzzi’s attack was brutal, but does it set a precedent for government intervention in sports? Could Calgary sue to get that negated goal back?
I don’t know. I have no legal training. I can’t even watch THE PRACTICE. They scream too much.
But yeah. This is complicated.
