Geez. The Coyotes are trying just about everything to balance out their team.
The latest move?
Trading for Boston Bruin Dave Scatchard (and giving up stable defenseman David Tanabe).
The Coyotes went through a phase where they were picking up offensive, finesse players, and now they’re sort of in a place where they’re picking up grittier players.
Of course, when you’re at .500, you’re always trying to figure out a way to pick things up without tearing the team apart.
Scatchard played last night’s game against Columbus with Shane Doan and Mike Leclerc, which seems like a pretty mean line. I guess Wayne Gretzky is moving from a coaching a team in his image to building a team he’d never want to play against.
