Earlier this season, Mario Lemieux retired, Brett Hull retired, Dave Andreychuk retired and everyone was just kind of staring at Steve Yzerman, waiting for him to hang up his skates.
Fast forward a couple of months.
Yzerman is one of Detroit’s hottest forwards. He’s got five points and seven assists in Detroit’s last nine games. Amazingly, he’s doing this averaging around 15 minutes a game.
Even more amazingly, he picked UCLA and Florida for his NCAA pool and Pittsburgh for the Super Bowl.
Obviously, Yzerman has cracked both the secret of eternal youth and the secret of successful gambling.
I know it sounds crazy, but I think, at this point, if Meredith Viera leaves THE VIEW, I really think everyone needs to seriously consider Yzerman as a co-host. He knows way too mcuh to be kept off of American TV.
UPDATE: Abel to Yzerman points out (politely) that I can’t read. Andreas Lilja is actually the Wings’ gambling genius.
With that in my pocket, I’m picturing something less THE VIEW and more LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY for the two of them. LIVE WITH ANDREAS AND STEVIE Y will feature health tips and gambling pics. I still feel that it’s a strong project.
I’m also going to learn to read.
