Has anyone else noticed how in the first two games of the finals, Edmonton was constantly passing the puck back to their defensemen, trying to get that one-timer from the blue line? To the extent that they were actually passing up chances to kick the puck out? And how they stopped doing that in game three? And how they won game three?
I think that was a good call by the Oilers.

Larry Brooks has a nice column on how the new Islanders management set-up runs through owner Charles Wang (login info.). So basically, with no actual hierarchy, everything seems like it’s be a free-for-all. Which seems about right for the Islanders. I’m seeing Alexei Yashin with a five-year contract extension.

Greg Wyshynski has a new book out. It’s called “Glow Pucks and 10-Cent Beer : The 101 Worst Ideas in Sports History.” I haven’t seen it yet, but you’ve got to love the concept.
