Connecticut real estate developer Sam Fingold signed a letter of intent to purchase the Pittsburgh Penuins.
Interestingly, Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the $175 million bid only makes sense if the Penguins are moving or getting a new arena.
Fingold says he wants to keep the team in Pittsburgh, but I can’t imagine he’s willing to take a bath on the purchase to make that happen.
Terry Frei recently pointed out that Mario Lemieux seemed to be using Fingold to get a Pittsburgh-centric offer on the table.
Sadly, it seems like no one has stepped up.
