The Times had a pretty funny piece on the joys and difficulties of being a west coast hockey fan.
I loved this line: At parties, where discussing sports is normally a reliable icebreaker, bringing up my favorite sport kept the ice very much unbroken.
It can be true. Loving hockey doesn’t necessarily translate in awkward social situations the way baseball or football does. But the cool thing is, if you manage to bump into another hockey fan, you know you have a friend for the night.
