Mark Parrish cleared waivers so the Wild bought him out of his contract. It turns out the cap hit isn’t awful, according to Michael Russo:
As for that cap hit, the team can spread the cap hit over six years to lessen the pain. Instead of a $2.65 million cap hit in each of the next three years, it’ll have a $727,778 cap hit in Years 1 and 2 and a $927,778 cap hit in Years 3-6.
For this year, the Wild saves $1,922,222 against the cap, and now has a cap scaled back to $52,649,277.
Parrish could end up in Dallas, which would put the Minnesota native with a once-Minnesotan team. Nashville is also supposed to be interested in Parrish. I wonder if LA will kick the tires on him. He played there once and it’s a young team that could use an on-ice mentor.
Also, Adrian Dater has a short post on a chat with Avs goalie Andrew Raycroft. Raycroft seems excited for yet another second chance and seems to be hoping Colorado goalie coach Jeff Hackett has the stuff to help Raycroft reclaim what was once a promising goalie career.
