Now here’s something you don’t see every day: Peter Forsberg suited up for a game.
Forsberg was practicing with his old Swedish team for an upcoming charity game. He hasn’t closed the door on an NHL return (again!) but according to Adrian Dater, he won’t decide anything until Christmas.
Greg “Puck Daddy” Wyshynski has a cool interview with journalist-turned-director-of-hockey-operations Chris Snow, who works for the Wild. There’s a lot of good stuff, but I found this tidbit fascinating: Snow estimates there are more than 120 no-trade contracts in the NHL. The no-trades obviously handcuff teams in certain situations, but also mislead players into a false sense of security, since any player can essentially be traded with a waiver move. Just ask Todd Marchant or Dan Boyle.
Finally, thanks to USA Hockey Magazine for naming PuckUpdate one of its top ten hockey blogs.
