Blackhawks See the Joy of the Blue Line Bomb

How about those Blackhawks? They’ve yet to lose at home this season, including last night’s big 6-2 win over the Avs.

One of the reasons for Chicago’s success? Coach Joe Quenneville’s Detroit-style offense, that features a lot of shooting defensemen. The defense either scores or creates rebound opportunities for the forwards. As I see more and more teams move to this kind of scheme, I really wish Al MacInnis was still playing. His bomb of a shot was made for this kind of hockey. It also makes me wonder how a guy like Ed Jovanovski can be nine games into the season and have no points. He’s got 22 shots, which is pretty good, but apparently nothing is getting through or creating rebounds.

That can’t be good.
