Caps Ignore Ghosts; Rangers Bad With Numbers in General

In Washington, coach Bruce Boudreau says his team is taking too many penalties. Shockingly, he’s blaming his players and not the ghost of Caps teams past.

Tonight, in New York, the Rangers retire Adam Graves’ number. I’m sure The Two-Line Pass will be all over this tonight, but for now, Rick Carpiniello says enough with the number-retiring. He suggests a “Ring of Honor,” where honored numbers are hung and displayed but still available (with certain exceptions).

It’s a great point. Graves is a fan favorite, but does he really deserve to have his number retired? It’ll make things easier for teams if there’s a way to honor former players and pay tribute without taking a number out of circulation.

The Rangers seem to have trouble with the salary cap, but also with the jersey number cap.
