Sad Stamkos
I think this is the saddest thing I’ve read in a while (actually, this is, but stay with me).
Steve Stamkos’s weekly diary is about how he’s started collecting sticks and pucks. It concludes with this sad note:
I asked for [Alex] Ovechkin’s at the All-Star event but I didn’t get a chance to get it. Hopefully he still remembers me before the end of his career.
How low is Stamkos’s morale? How can a first-overall pick think anyone in the league doesn’t know who he is or will forget him? If the Lightning are committed to Stamkos long-term (and I’m not sure they are), this is something they need to work on. Like with psychoanalysis. Maybe twice a week.
Interestingly, Joe Henderson predicted this whole scenario last summer.
Also, the Thrashers are suddenly very hot shorthanded: six in their past seven games. I haven’t watched much of the Thrashers this season, but I’m thinking I might start checking in more often. With Tom Renney out as Rangers coach, I don’t think I’ll get to see the same two or three short-handed goals a week I’ve been enjoying watching the Rangers.
