Isles: ‘Our Pick Is Your Pick’

Greg Logan has a great post on Michael Farber taking Islanders GM Garth Snow to task for letting fans vote on who the Islanders should draft with the first overall pick.

First of all, I don’t think Snow is actually letting the fans decide. I look at it as more of a straw poll. But also, while I don’t doubt the ability and skills of NHL scouts, the fact of the matter is, no one can predict the future. Any time you select a pick, there’s an element of chance. At a certain point, like when you’re dealing with potential high picks like Victor Hedman and John Tavares, it really becomes a coin toss. Why not let fans toss the coin?

Also, I work pretty hard not to make predictions, but Friday, in my fantasy column, I warned the Canucks not to get into a shootout with the Blackhawks. Vancouver should have listened to me. Or at the very least, they should have conducted a fan poll on how to play Chicago.
