OK. Quick update.
Ray Shero won't be the next Bruins' GM.
He's going to Pittsburgh.
Apparently Shero wanted a dysfunctional franchise on the east coast. But he didn't care which one.
The Bruins are now looking at Ottawa's Peter Chiarelli.
I'm going to pray for Chiarelli tonight.
ESPN's aweome Uni Watch now has a blog: www.uniwatchblog.com. Wednesday, he had a nice catch: Buffalo's Jay McKee wears padding over his skates. That's a huge part of how Buffalo has clogged the shooting lanes. Maybe Anaheim should invest in some of those extra pads.
Also, I grabbed a beer after work today and noticed my Heineken had a link to www.enjoyheinekenresponsibly.com. I really feel like I might be the only person to ever see that link on the bottle and then go look it up. Otherwise, I feel like it might make more sense to actually emphasize the benefits of drinking responsibly directly on the bottle.
You know. Rather than depending on people getting home safely and remembering the URL.
Ray Shero is close to being the new Bruins' GM.
The only reason I care is I'm a big fan of his dad, the enigmatic NHL coach Fred Shero. I have no idea if Ray will be like his dad, and write strange quotes on the locker room chalkboard and have his players practice going over the boards, but I kind of hope he's that kind of GM.

Also, geez, Joe Beninati and Neil Smith are boring calling Anaheim-Edmonton for OLN. I don't think I heard anything interesting the whole night. If OLN wanted Gary Thorne, they should have just gotten Gary Thorne.
By the way, Thorne is a columnist for the Bangor Daily News.
Weird.

Everyone remember to congratulate Jes on his playoff 'stache.
Larry Brooks thinks the OLN/NBC studio shows are boring (login info.). He's pitching Jeremy Roenick as a talking head. I think it would be cool to pair him with Brett Hull. They even kind of look alike. Brooks' point is that if you have a studio show, your hosts have to be interesting and mix it up a little bit. OLN has been bringing in lots of CBC feeds. I think they have the right idea. I don't know why they don't just telecast some Canadian sports talk radio. I bet it would be a great listen. Not that I know much about Canadian sports talk radio. I'm just guessing.

Tim Panaccio reports the Flyers would re-sign Peter Forsberg after next season. Even though he's scheduled to miss half of next season with ankle surgery. And that's a really interesting part of the new NHL. Injured players don't count against the cap, and there's no cap in the post-season, so it's a really amazing deal for the Flyers to have Forsberg. Basically, he can take the regular season off and then swoop in to help out for the playoffs. And I've long felt Forsberg should be pretty much kept out of the regular season and used in the playoffs. Why wear him down until, when you need him most, he's injured or out of gas?

The ice at Arrowhead Pond sucks (login info.).
The perils of expansion. This never happened in Winnipeg.
