Domi Screeches

Which is crazier?
The Leafs possibly buying out Tie Domi, saving no real money, and pissing off Mats Sundin.
Or the fact that Screech from SAVED BY THE BELL is going to lose his house.
I think they're both crazy in different ways. I'm not a Domi fan by any, any means, but what's the point of degrading a popular player like that?
And Screech. Dude. That just breaks my heart. I wish someone would call and straighten this out.

Oilers: 'Get Behind Us!'

Does anyone think the Oilers may have maybe overpracticed those behind-the-back passes? Sure it was awesome on their first goal, but did they have to go behind the back the rest of the first period? They might have actually scored more than a goal.
Now, I'm not against behind-the-back passes. I just see them as more of a seasoning than a main ingredient. That's just me, though. When I'm asked for the salt, I keep it in front of my chest. I don't get fancy.
Oh. And this is a pretty funny public service announcement. Thanks to Mrs. PuckUpdate and Oprah for the heads-up.

Kick Out the Puck...

Has anyone else noticed how in the first two games of the finals, Edmonton was constantly passing the puck back to their defensemen, trying to get that one-timer from the blue line? To the extent that they were actually passing up chances to kick the puck out? And how they stopped doing that in game three? And how they won game three?
I think that was a good call by the Oilers.

Larry Brooks has a nice column on how the new Islanders management set-up runs through owner Charles Wang (login info.). So basically, with no actual hierarchy, everything seems like it's be a free-for-all. Which seems about right for the Islanders. I'm seeing Alexei Yashin with a five-year contract extension.

Greg Wyshynski has a new book out. It's called "Glow Pucks and 10-Cent Beer : The 101 Worst Ideas in Sports History." I haven't seen it yet, but you've got to love the concept.
